OCA athletics youth camp to focus on long jump, middle distance running

26 Jun 2014
Kuwait: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) today sent out invitations to its 45 member National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to participate in the Asian Athletic Youth Development Project 2014 to be held from September 1-14 in Doha, Qatar. In a circular to the 45 NOCs, the Director of the OCA Asian Games Department, Haider Farman, says: “In coordination with Aspire Academy and International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), OCA has decided to host the Asian Athletic Youth Camp for Long Jump and Middle Distance.

“OCA and Aspire Academy will provide economy class airfare and accommodation for one coach and one 15-17 years old athlete for each event from each National Athletic Federation affiliated to member NOCs of OCA.”

Referring to the second youth camp to be organised in 2014, following the ongoing swimming camp, Mr Farman highlighted the excellent cooperation between OCA, Olympic Solidarity, the Qatar Olympic Committee and Aspire Academy.

“It is the first time for us to organise two training camps within one year, and we are extremely happy with the great cooperation between OCA and Aspire Academy,” he said.

"The ongoing OCA Asian Swimming Youth Camp is a great success and we have received a lot of positive feedback. I hope all the coaches and athletes can benefit from this athletics camp and improve their techniques through our international experts."

The general itinerary is arrival in Doha on August 31 and depart on September 15. The two-week training camp will be from September 1-14.

Each NOC should receive the OCA's approval for the flight tickets before issuing and must submit the participation form to the OCA secretariat before July 31 via
