Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The members of the Executive Board and Affiliates of the Olympic Council of Malaysia would like to congratulate Low Beng Choo for being conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP) on the occasion of the 81st birthday of DYMM Sultan Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, on October 24, 2011. The conferment of the Award, which carries the title Dato’, was held on December 22.
OCM would also like to congratulate Puan Zaiton Othman for being selected by the IOC Women and Sport Commission to be the recipient of the 2012 IOC Women and Sport Trophy for Asia. The Trophy will be presented to Puan Zaiton Othman on February 16 in Los Angeles, USA, during the 5th IOC World Conference on Women and Sport.
At the 6th OCM Board Meeting on January 5, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Low Beng Choo was appointed to present a paper at the Women and Sport Seminar organised by the Oman Olympic Committee in Muscat from January 14-15, 2012. Since Y. Bhg. Dato’ Low has been appointed by the IOC Women and Sport Commission, the Board nominated Dr. Shamala S. to represent OCM, with Puan Zaiton Othman in reserve.In other news from Malaysia:
The second disbursement of grants by the OCM Trust Fund was decided on December 19 as follows: approved, applications from three National Sports Associations; approved subject to receiving supporting documents, applications from five NSAs; not approved, applications from two NSAs; and pending subject to receiving supporting documents, applications from six NSAs. The maximum grant approved by the Trust Fund Management Committee is RM10,000.*
Five NSAs of the following sports - Beach Volleyball, Powered Paragliding, Water Ski, Wind Suring and Woodball - have submitted their entries by number to participate in the 3rd Asian Beach Games, to be held in Haiyang, China, from June 16-22, 2012.*
