10 Dec 2013
Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Olympic Committee will organise the annual Olympic Day at Aspire Park on Thursday, December 12, and all community categories will be involved.

Olympic Day is an annual global event celebrated by National Olympic Committees around the world. The event embodies the Olympic spirit that promotes peace, tolerance, understanding and respect through sport.

Several national sports federations will participate - including gymnastics, handball, sailing, fencing, taekwondo, judo, volleyball, golf and wrestling - and, along with other sports groups, will organise different activities including sports and cultural competitions.

Moreover, the Organising Committee of the 2013 Olympic Day invited Qatari schools to participate in the event in coordination with the Supreme Education Council.

Mr Abdulaziz Al-Ghamim, General Supervisor of Olympic Day, said that the annual festival celebrated the foundation of the International Olympic Committee and promoted global interest in the Olympic Games. He stressed that the festival was part of the QOC strategy to bring the Olympic values into the lives of the people through the Olympic movement.
