OCA Advisory Committee meets in Nanjing

16 Aug 2013
Nanjing, China: The Olympic Council of Asia’s Advisory Committee met at the Nanjing Wanda Hilton Hotel on Friday morning under the chairmanship of Ng Ser Miang of Singapore. Mr Ng welcomed the OCA President, HE Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, to the meeting and thanked him for his support of the Advisory Committee, which serves as a link between the National Olympic Committees of Asia and the Asian IOC members.

Sheikh Ahmad said the Advisory Committee had bridged the gap between the NOCs and the IOC and had strengthened the Olympic Movement in the continent as a result.

“I want to show my gratitude and thanks for all of you for the role of this commission,” Sheikh Ahmad said.

“Mr Ng, as Chairman, you have done an excellent job. We must maintain and keep this tradition.”

Mr Ng updated members on IOC Executive Board meetings, including the sports programme for the Summer Olympics and preparations for Winter and Summer Olympic Games, as well as forthcoming elections.

Both Mr Ng and Advisory Committee member CK Wu of Chinese Taipei are among the six candidates bidding to become the next IOC President when Jacques Rogge stands down on September 10 at the IOC Session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
