IAGOC holds signing ceremony with 67 designated hospitals

Incheon, Korea: The 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) held a signing ceremony with 67 designated hospitals at Songdo Convensia in Incheon on March 11.

The ceremony was attended by the head of each of the 67 designated hospitals, comprised of 54 from Incheon and 13 from co-host cities. These included Lee Keun, the president of Gachon Univ Gil Medical Center; Kim Youngmo, the president and CEO of Inha Univ Hospital; Lee Hakno Monseigneur, the president of The Catholic Univ of Korea, Incheon St. Mary's Hospital; Chun Myung Hoon, International St. Mary’s Hospital; Bae Gyu-Ryong, the director of Chungju Medical Center, and Suh Jinsoo, the president of Inje Univ Ilsan Paik Hospital.

Over 200 people from medical institutions and local health centers gathered at the event, showing a great interest in the 17th Asian Games.

In his address to the designated hospitals, IAGOC president Kim Youngsoo urged them to provide swift and appropriate service to all patients during the Games. "I hope we can make this moment as a stepping stone to promote medical tourism in Northeast Asia," he said.

Some 670 members of the medical workforce at these designated hospitals will provide free medical services for the participants of the 17th Asian Games. These hospitals will support 104 medical stations at the Athletes' Village, HQ hotels, Media Village, MPC and venues and also deliver necessary services such as ambulance and medical equipment.
