Bahrain NOC holds diabetes campaign

18 Nov 2013
Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Olympic Committee organised a diabetes campaign on Monday to mark World Diabetes Day.

The campaign, held at the BOC HQ in Seef District under the slogan ‘Test…Learn…Join’, was part of the BOC strategy to spread diabetes education and prevention among its employees, which is the main theme of World Diabetes Day.

It also called on all those responsible for diabetes care to understand diabetes and take control. Held in cooperation with the Bahrain Specialist Hospital, the campaign featured an awareness lecture for its staff on general guidance on diabetes, prevention and treatment.

Dr Hadi Mohammed of the Bahrain Specialist Hospital highlighted the reasons for this phenomena and ways to prevent it.

Free medical tests were made available for the committee employees to detect blood sugar levels, besides providing a variety of guidance on proper food.

The campaign was organised in the presence of BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar in addition to representatives of the committee’s Executive Management.
