Rugby gears up for Nanjing

25 Feb 2013
Lausanne, Switzerland: The International Rugby Board (IRB) organised its first conference aimed at boosting women’s participation in the disciplinary process. The conference, held on February 16-17 at Dublin, Ireland, brought together 16 northern hemisphere rugby union representatives from the legal, rugby judicial, playing and match officiating fraternity who were identified as having the potential to perform this duty at domestic, elite and international level.

Rugby sevens will make its Olympic debut at the Summer Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in 2014 before joining the sports programme for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. In Nanjing 2014, the competition will bring together players from six nations.

Rugby sevens will also be part of this year’s 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China, from August 16-24. Detailed info at
