Mongolia’s “Mexico” province celebrates 1968 opening ceremony

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, October 12, 2017: Dr. Demchigjav Zagdsuren, Mongolia NOC President, welcomed a delegation from Arkhangai province's "Mexico" Olympic Council - headed by its chief, Mr. Ts. Nerguibaatar - at Olympic House to mark the occasion of the opening ceremony of the 1968 Mexico Olympic Games.

At these Games , held 49 years ago in Mexico City, Mongolian wrestlers  captured a first-ever  silver medal by  J. Munkhbat (87kg) and three bronze medals by  Ch. Damdinsharav (52kg), D. Sereeter (70kg) and T. Artag (78kg) in the sporting history of  Mongolia.

The Mongolian NOC has named its provinces after Olympic Games host cities to celebrate the history and legacy of the Olympic Games.
