K-Pop superstars JYJ team up with Incheon 2014
28 Feb 2013
Incheon, Korea: The 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee (IAGOC) has appointed K-pop superstars JYJ as goodwill ambassadors for the 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014. JYJ - standing for each member's name, Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu - have been chosen to raise the Games awareness and promote Asia's largest sporting event, especially for the overseas promotion as they are one of the most popular Korean Wave stars.
“JYJ's broad popularity in Asia will help 4.5 billion Asians familiarize themselves with the Games. This will lead to the successful staging of the event," said IAGOC President Kim Young-soo at a press conference on February 20. JYJ added: “It is a great honour for us to promote the Incheon Asian Games, which is one of the most important national events. We will do our utmost to let the people both at home and abroad know about the Games and the host city Incheon.”
JYJ will be part of the production of an Incheon-themed song, dance and music video and perform in the Games’ overseas PR campaign “Roadshow” in Guangzhou and Hanoi in October and November, respectively. Guangzhou, China, hosted the 16th Asian Games in 2010 and Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, will stage the 18th Asian Games in 2019.
The 17th Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4, 2014, and feature 20,000 athletes, officials and media from the 45 National Olympic Committees. There will be 36 sports on the programme.
