Chinese Taipei NOC holds 35th Olympic Academy

20 Sep 2012
Taipei: In line with the Olympic Charter, the Chinese Taipei NOC has held its Olympic Academy annually since 1978 to promote the fundamental principles and values of Olympism. This year’s event was held from September 16-19 in Taipei and the main theme was “Olympic Movement Development Post London Olympic Games”.

More than 100 participants gathered at the Academy for the four-day, three-night event and shared and exchanged opinions on various topics during the group discussion session. Topics included the increased rights of female athletes in the London Olympic Games, the “play-to-lose” women's doubles badminton scandal, sports marketing and athletes’ career planning after retiring from competition.

Apart from the academic lectures, the session also included fun sports activities such as archery, rope-walking and fun marathon. The venue was the National Taiwan Sport University, one of the leading universities aiming to cultivate elite athletes.
