Kyrgyzstan celebrates Sportsman's Day with Incheon Asian Games Fun Run

Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan NOC hosted the 23rd edition of the Incheon Asian Games 2014 Fun Run to celebrate its Sportsman's Day on Friday, April 4. The 1-km fun run was held in Bishkek Victory Park and attracted more than 500 students aged from 12 to 15 from 21 schools in Bishkek.  

The VIP guests included Kyrgyzstan NOC President Mr Murat Saralinov, General Secretary Mr Kanat Amankulov, Bishkek Sports Authority Chairman Mr Sheishenkul Bakirov, OCA Technical Officer Vahid Kardany and 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee Sports Headquarters Department Director General Jo Youngha.

"We host the Asian Games Fun Run every four years, and this is our third time following our events for the 2006 Doha Asian Games and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games," Kyrgyzstan NOC President Mr Murat Saralinov said in his opening speech.

“The Kyrgyzstan national team is preparing for the Incheon Asian Games and this fun run has brought an Asian Games flavour to the general public in our country. We would like to thank the OCA and IAGOC for giving us this opportunity.”

A total of 24 students from eight age groups (four categories each for boys and girls) won the top three prizes offered by OCA and IAGOC, which included medals, pencils, certificates and tumblers.
