Qatar NOC honors National Sports Day contributors

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Olympic Committee has honored the companies, sponsors, sports federations and clubs for contributing to the success of the second National Sports Day held in February 2013. His Excellency Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the QOC Secretary General, along with QOC senior officials, staff and volunteers, and senior officials from sports federations, clubs and media representatives attended a special function at St Regis Hotel on Monday, June 10.

The QOC informed the guests that long-term plans were underway to make National Sports Day an international carnival and a destination for sports tourism, in keeping with the Qatar 2030 National Vision.

The certificates were presented by Sheikh Saoud, by Mr Mishal bin Nasser Al Khalifa, QOC Assistant Secretary General for Administrative Support, and by Mr Mohammed Yousef Al Mane, QOC Executive Board member and President of the Qatar Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation.

National Sports Day is an annual event held on the second Tuesday in February. It is a pioneering initiative that has been declared a national event by HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent and President of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
