Japan NOC holds 50th Olympic Day Festa

16 Nov 2013
Tokyo, Japan: The Japanese Olympic Committee, whose President is IOC member Tsunekazu Takeda, held its 50th Olympic Day Festa in Shiroyama, Tohoku region. Hundreds of children walked for two kilometres alongside Olympic athletes.

The event is one of a series being delivered as part of the IOC/Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) support programme “Tsubasa”. These events have been launched to support children in the regions affected by the 11 March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

In addition, the JOC is operating an ambitious five-year project entitled The Sports Kokoro Project, sending Olympians and Paralympians to these areas to share their passion for sport and Olympism with children.
