Cambodian PM Hun Sen to receive IOC President’s Trophy

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, January 9, 2017: The International Olympic Committee has awarded the IOC President's Trophy to Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen in recognition of his efforts in developing sport, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) has announced.

The award is to honour his outstanding contributions and efforts in developing sport in Cambodia as well as promoting the Olympic Movement in building a peaceful and better world through sport and the Olympic ideals, the NOCC said in a statement.

"This trophy is the most prestigious award of the IOC that is given to Samdech Techo Hun Sen to honour himself personally and the nation as a whole," said the statement, adding that the award was a pride for Cambodia.

According to the statement, IOC Executive Board member Ng Ser Miang of Singapore will present the trophy to the Prime Minister on January 25 at the Peace Palace in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
