Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, December 8, 2017: Mongolia NOC Vice President Ts. Damdin, who won a judo silver medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, and Mr E. Badar-Uugan, NOC Secretary General and Beijing 2008 Olympic boxing champion, welcomed a sports delegation from the Sydney Olympic Centre of Huvsgul province, headed by its Vice Director, Ch. Erdenechimeg.

Huvsgul province is located 850km from the capital Ulaanbaatar and winter sports such as speed skating and cross country skiing are very popular.

Several Mongolian Olympians have come from this province. It is also the home province of Mr. E. Sodnompeljee, Rio 2016 Paralympics bronze medal-winner in powerlifting.

Mongolia NOC has a local Olympic branch in all 21 provinces and three cities. The provincial Olympic councils are named after host cities of Olympic Games, hence Huvsgul being referred to as "Sydney".
