Zurkhaneh officials lobby for South Asian Games Nepal 2019

Kathmandu, Nepal, August 28, 2017: Representatives of the International Zurkhaneh Sport Federation (IZSF) and from the national federation visited the President of the Nepal Olympic Committee, Mr Jeevan Ram Shrestha, recently.

Mr Bahram Afsharzadeh, IZSF Executive Board member and Senior Advisor & Executive Director of International Zurkhaneh Sports in Iran; Mr Bankim Singh, International Relations Department of IZSF, Iran; the President of Nepal Zurkhaneh Sports Association (NZSA), Mr Surendra Manandhar; and the Secretary General of NZSA, Mr Ravi Ghimire, requested NOC President Mr Shrestha to include Zurkhaneh Sports in the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal in 2019.

They also talked about the development of Zurkhaneh Sports in different parts of Nepal. The International Zurkh?neh Sport Federation (IZSF) was established on October 10, 2004. Zurkhaneh consist of two words: "zur" meaning power or strength and "khaneh" meaning house, which translates to house of power or strength.
