Kuwait hosts gymnastics council meeting

22 May 2014
Kuwait City, Kuwait: Meeting in Kuwait City (Kuwait) on May 9-10, the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) took a number of decisions. The Council thus accepted the principles of a new qualification system and schedule for the Olympic Games in 2020. The Central African Republic Federation was provisionally admitted as an associated federation, and the Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Uganda, Sudan and Zambia federations as affiliated federations.

Their definitive affiliations will be decided upon by the 2014 Congress in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). The 48th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships were awarded to Qatar, and will thus be held in Doha from October 12-28, 2018 (proposed dates to be confirmed). The next meeting of the Council will be held in Melbourne (Australia) from May 11-17, 2015. Info at
