Sieh Kok Chi: public support is the key to success

29 Jun 2012
Incheon, Korea: Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) Secretary General Dato' Sieh Kok Chi believes the key to success for the 4th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) in 2013 will be the support of the local people. Invited by OCA and IAGOC, Dato Sieh received the 4th AIMAG official invitation from IAGOC President Kim Young-soo on behalf of the 45 Asian NOCs in the one-year countdown ceremony at Yonsei University's Incheon Songdo Campus on Friday.

"Today's one-year countdown ceremony was very good and it wasn't expensive," he said. "I have heard that IAGOC is working on the opening ceremony of AIMAG, and I feel some of today's programme can be used for next year's opening ceremony.

"The dance was really impressive but most important is the public and media who came to the ceremony. Their presence will not only help promote the games to the general public but also build up publicity and awareness among local citizens.

"For me, the most important thing for any games is the citizens of the country. They are the main supporters of the games." For the 4th AIMAG, Dato Sieh also expressed his high expectations.

"I have been to Vietnam, Thailand and Macau for the previous games, but it is the first time to combine the Indoor Games and Martial Arts Games together in Incheon. Therefore I’m very much looking forward to the games in Incheon and wish them all the best for the success of AIMAG and the Asian Games in 2014.”
