Asia supports FINA President in 2013 elections

London, England: The Asia Swimming Federation has announced it will support Dr Julio Maglione (Uruguay) for a second term as President of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) in the 2013 elections. The President of the Asia Swimming Federation, Sheikh Khalid Al Bader Al Sabah (Kuwait), declared Asia’s support for IOC member Dr Maglione in a press release on Wednesday.

Dr Maglione became a member of the FINA Bureau from 1984-1988 and served as Vice President from 1988-1992, Honorary Treasurer from 1992-2009 and President of FINA from 2009.

Due to his tireless work on behalf of the world swimming family, and his efforts to promote and develop the sport in Asia, the Asia Swimming Federation is fully committed to supporting Dr Maglione for a second term of office in the 2013 elections.
