Asian Cricket Council invites Afghanistan to Asia Cup 2014

Colombo, Sri Lanka: The Executive Board of the Asian Cricket Council - at its meeting in Colombo on January 4 - accepted the bid for broadcast and grounds rights from STAR India Pvt Ltd for the Asia Cup 2014 scheduled to be held in Bangladesh.The Board also decided to invite Afghanistan to participate in the Asia Cup 2014. Afghanistan will now join Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan will be participating in a major ODI tournament for the first time, giving them valuable experience ahead of their ICC WT20 and ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 participation.

A total of 11 matches will be played, with the opening game on February 25 and the Final on March 8.
