Incheon Asian Games World Press Briefing set for April 10

Incheon, Korea: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee (IAGOC) are pleased to announce the date of the World Press Briefing (WPB) ahead of the 17th Asian Games 2014. The WPB will take place at the Songdo Convensia, Incheon, on Thursday, April 10, and will be attended by around 200 international and local media. 

The media briefing for the OCA’s premier multi-sport event gives the organising committee the opportunity to introduce and discuss the media services, protocol and Press Rate Card to representatives of the world’s press.

It also includes a tour of the Main Press Centre, the Media Village and the new Asiad Main Stadium, which has cost US$480 million to build and will have a seating capacity of 62,818. Work is expected to be completed by the end of April.

The timetable for the WPB on April 10 is:

08:30~10:00  Registration and Distribution of Media Kit

10:00~12:00  Greetings and Congratulatory Speeches, IAGOC Presentation, Q&A.

12:00~13:30 Welcome Lunch

13:30~16:00 Venue Tours to MPC, Media Village, Main Stadium

16:00~18:00 Unilateral meetings for the press that applied for such a meeting in advance.

The 17th Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4, 2014, and feature 437 events in 36 sports. The Games will involve around 23,000 participants, comprised of 13,000 athletes and officials from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees, 7,000 media and 3,000 VIPs and technical officials.

The 36 sports will be staged in 49 competition venues, of which 23 are new.
