Independence is the key to RADO success

10 May 2011
Kuwait: The Director of WADA's Education and Programme Development, Robert Koehler, believes independence from outside influence is the key to RADO’s success. “On behalf of WADA it is such a pleasure to be back at the GCC & Yemen RADO meeting.  We would like to thank the state of Kuwait for its support and especially appreciate OCA for the great support for all the RADO offices in Asia,” he said in his opening remarks.

Mr Koehler also emphasized  the importance of RADO independence in the future.

“RADO is progressing very well worldwide, and especially in Asia; it shows a great example to others,” he said.

“When RADO starts to succeed people take notice, it  can potentially attract the interest of other parties which want to take it over. WADA wants to ensure that  the RADO maintains its independence.

“If RADO wants to go forward we must be alert. RADO should remain independent. It should continue to partner with governments and NOC but not be influenced by them.

“That is the biggest message if we are to have success and keep moving forward to the benefit of anti-doping, with a working partnership with NOCs and government.”
