Hanoi, Vietnam: K-Pop superstars JYJ were the highlight of the fourth overseas PR roadshow for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, on October 24, 2013. Hanoi was selected for JYJ's debut appearance because of its distinction as the host city of the 18th Asian Games in 2019. Vietnam is also a country where k-pop is very popular.
Goodwill Ambassadors of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, JYJ held a press conference and a showcase to promote the Games and their Incheon Asiad song “Only One”, which was released last month.
The press conference was held at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi, with attendance by over 80 media companies from Vietnam and Korea, diplomatic representatives and sports officials from the two countries.
Kim Young-soo, President of IAGOC, and Prof. Hoang Vinh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnamese National Olympic Committee, represented the organisers of the event.
Mr Kim said: “It is very special that we are holding this roadshow in the host city of the next Asian Games. We at the Incheon Asian Games Organising Committee will do our utmost to make the Games a great festival of peace and harmony for all Asians.”
Prof. Hoang added: “We are honoured to be selected as one of the cities for the 2014 Asian Games overseas PR roadshow. We in Vietnam will give our full support and cooperation to Incheon to make the Games a great success.”
The showcase in the evening for the capacity crowd of 3,500 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi was a highly anticipated event, both for fans of JYJ and the Asian Games. It featured not only JYJ but a mix of Korean and Vietnamese artists, including Poppin’ Hyun Joon, the famous Korean b-boy; Park Ae-ri, the Korean Pansori singer; Beat Circle, the percussion group; Ho Ngoc Ha, the Vietnamese pop diva; and Big Toe Crew, the Vietnamese b-boy group.
The 2014 Asian Games Overseas PR Roadshow will continue on to its last stop, in Guangzhou, China, on November 21, where JYJ will hold another showcase for the promotion of the Games and the song “Only One”.
