Doha, Qatar: The GCC Sport and Environment Committee has announced the winners of its third annual award 2013-2014 on Sport and Environment in Doha, where the GCC Volleyball Organising Committee claimed first place. The Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) finished second and the GCC Basketball Organising Committee was third.

The GCC Sport and Environment Award is a Gulf initiative aimed at preserving the environmental standards and environmental safety in the GCC and encouraging organising committees to focus on the environment  in all sports activities, facilities and competitions.

Bahrain’s achievement was lauded by Isa Abdulrahim, of the Bahrain Olympic Committee's Sport and Environment Committee, who said the result was a continuation of the tremendous achievements of the BAA, headed by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
