Ruqaya Al Ghasra chairs the Athletes'' Committee meeting
Bahrain NOC expands input of athletes

09 Sep 2013
Manama, Bahrain: The Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Athletes’ Committee wants to form an identical committee in each sports federation. The proposal was made during the committee’s first meeting since its inception, chaired by BOC board member and former national team sprinter Ruqaya Al Ghasra. Ruqaya said that each sports federation should name a representative from its committee to be permanently in touch with the Athletes’ Committee to submit any ideas, complaints and needs of the players.

Other issues discussed were to allocate a budget for the committee to carry out its programmes as well as the overall vision, mission and objectives of the Athletes’ Committee.

Ruqaya said that all the proposals would be submitted to the BOC general secretariat and stressed her keenness for the BOC Athletes’ Committee to serve the athletes in Bahrain.

The committee also includes national volleyball team members Hassan Dahi and Mahmood Hassan, prominent Bahraini swimmer Omar Al Malki and cycling team member Aqeel Abdulamir.
