28 Oct 2013
Doha, Qatar: Bahrain Handball Association President and Bahrain Olympic Committee member Ali Isa Isaaqi has become a new member of the Asian Handball Federation board following recent elections in Doha.

Isaaqi was congratulated by high-ranking Bahraini sports officials, including Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar.

Askar said that electing Isaaqi was a culmination of his efforts in serving handball in all areas for a number of years, and underlines his abilities and efficiency.

He added that Isaaqi winning this important post for Bahrain coincides with the Kingdom's success in winning its bid to host the next Asian Championship, which also doubles as a qualifying competition for the 2015 World Cup finals.

Kuwait's Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, meanwhile, was re-elected President of the Asian Handball Federation. Sheikh Ahmad has been AHF President since 1991. His Vice President will remain Ahmed Mohamed Al Shaabi from Qatar.

The new general secretary is the president of the handball association of Pakistan, Mohammad Shafiq.
