Maldives NOC hosts women’s sports nutrition seminar

16 Jun 2016
Male, Maldives, June 16, 2016: The women’s commission of Maldives Olympic Committee organised a two-day seminar on sports nutrition targeting all professional-level female athletes. The educational and interactive seminar was conducted in two phases on June 14-15. The first day was attended by more than 30 professional athletes from table tennis, volleyball, handball and netball.

Athletes from swimming, athletics, badminton and tennis attended the second day of the seminar. Each session lasted approximately two hours and provided take-home information that athletes could follow and immediately implement.

The seminar was led by the renowned nutritionist Mariyam Najla, who underscored the importance of good nutrition for everyone, especially athletes, as not eating properly affected an athlete’s performance. The seminar was aimed at strengthening an athlete’s knowledge of energy and performance, weight control, hydration and after-game concerns.
