Kuwait to honour athletes

02 Jan 2013
Kuwait: The Director General of Kuwait’s Public Authority for Youth and Sport (PAYS), Faisal Al-Jazzaf, said on Wednesday that the authority would honour 807 Kuwaiti athletes next Monday for their achievements in sport at local, regional and international levels. These will include sports representatives in presidential posts in the continental federations in 2011-2012, said a report by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

In a press statement, Al-Jazzaf said the ceremony was to show the authority’s support of Kuwaiti athletes. The ceremony will also honour 28 sports representatives, including 23 former players, the press statement added.

Al-Jazzaf said he hoped the ceremony would encourage Kuwait’s current crop of athletes to exert more effort in their particular sports in order to achieve their goals.
