Philippine NOC holds Olympic Day Run

Manila, Philippines: The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) held an Olympic Day Run over 3km, 5km and 10km as part of the National Games 2011 at Bacolod City Hall on May 22. The first out-of-town ODR attracted some 2,000 runners from the local Philippine National Police unit, national athletes, officials from POC and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Paralympic athletes and local residents from Silay City, Talisay City, Bago City and Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.

The POC-PSC National Games 2011 featured 35 sports and took place from May 22-29 with the theme: “Discovering Champions Across the Nation.”

The POC Sports for All Committee is headed by Mr. Jose Romasanta as Chairman, with Col. Antonio Tamayo, Jr. as Vice Chairman and Event Organiser. The Deputy Event Organiser was Mr. Giovanni Mamawal, and Mr. Michael Enriquez was Race Director.

Also in attendance were POC Secretary General Stephen Hontiveros, PSC Commissioner Atty. Jolly Gomez and PSC Chairman Ricardo Garcia.
