26 Jul 2013
Bangkok, Thailand: The Olympic Council of Asia, National Olympic Committee of Thailand and Taekwondo Association of Thailand concluded preparations for the 2013 Asian Taekwondo Youth Camp on Friday. OCA representative Vahid Kardany, Thai NOC Deputy Treasurer Sanguan Kosavinta and Thai Taekwondo Association Vice President Pricha Thotrakul attended a preparation meeting and inspected all facilities and equipment.

The Asian Taekwondo Youth Camp will be held at the Training Centre of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand from July 27 to August 9. It is a joint project of OCA in cooperation with the World Taekwondo Federation, the NOC of Thailand and the Taekwondo Association of Thailand. This year’s youth camp has attracted more than 28 Asian NOCs to the two-week programme.

Two experts, Daniel Trenton from Australia and Young Seok Choi, will conduct the training course. Three Asian Taekwondo Olympians - Chanatip Sonkham from Thailand, Wu Jingyu from China and Lee Dae-Hoon from Korea Republic - will also join the camp as Taekwondo Ambassadors.

Wu won the gold medal at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics in the women’s -49 kg class, Lee won silver in the men’s 58kg class at London 2012 and Chanatip took bronze at the 2012 Olympics in the women’s -49kg weight category. The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) and WADA Anti-Doping Education’s “Say No to Doping” have been added to this year’s training camp. The Asian Taekwondo Youth Camp 2013 is funded by OCA as part of Olympic Solidarity.
