Bahrain NOC keen to develop cricket

Manama, Bahrain: The development of cricket in Bahrain was discussed during a meeting between the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s sports affairs executive director, Noaman Al Hassan, Bahrain Cricket Association President Saleem Elyas and Asian Cricket Council development officer Rumish Ratnayaki of Sri Lanka. Ratnayaki was full of praise for the cricket programmes and activities held in Bahrain. He also lauded the efforts of the Bahrain Cricket Association and their cooperation with the Asian Cricket Council, leading to several joint projects to develop the game in the Kingdom.

The Sri Lankan official congratulated the new board of the BCA, headed by Elyas, who has new ideas on how to improve the game of cricket in Bahrain. Al Hassan thanked the ACC for supporting cricket in Bahrain and said he would submit the development proposals to the BOC for consideration and implementation.

In other news from Bahrain, the first GCC Sport and the Environment Conference will open at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Saturday under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad's personal representative, Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The three-day event is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in coordination with the Supreme Council for Environment and Natural Reserves. Also, the Executive Office of the GCC Olympic Committees Presidents will hold its 73rd meeting on Saturday at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.
