04 Jun 2010
The Qatar Olympic Committee has completed all preparations for the closing ceremony of the 2009-2010 sports season at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Sunday, June 6. The event will be staged under the patronage and attendance of HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the ceremony, a number of prominent Qatari athletes, sports figures, administrators, referees and supporters will be honoured in recognition of their contributions to the Qatar sports movement.

In a pre-event statement, Abdulrahman Mosallam Al Dosari, Director of the QOC’s public relations and marketing department, congratulated all honorees and extended his appreciation to the sports federations and national companies that had served both sport and the youth sector during the season.

Mr. Al Dosari reaffirmed the QOC’s commitment to hold these annual festivities in an effort to motivate athletes, officials, federations and clubs to achieve more in the international sports arena.

As part of the preparations, the QOC’s public relations and marketing department has released a new booklet to mark the closing ceremony.

The booklet includes reports on the submission of Qatar’s bid book for hosting the 2022 World Cup to FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter at FIFA headquarters in Zurich. It also highlights the 12th Pan Arab Games to be staged in Doha in November 2011 and the AFC Asian Cup in January 2011.

The publication also reports on the successful staging of the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championship, the FIVB World Men’s Clubs Volleyball Championship and the IHF Super Globe handball tournament in 2010.
