World champion wrestler Nematpour suspended after failing doping test

27 Jun 2014
Corsier-Sur-Vevey, Switzerland: Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler world champion Taleb Nematpour has been informed by FILA that his A and B samples from an anti-doping test have come back positive. The tests were administered by FILA at the Greco-Roman World Cup May 23 in Tehran. Nematpour won gold in the Greco-Roman 84 kilogram class at last year's world championships.

The initial analytical report of Nematpour’s “A” sample by the WADA accredited laboratory in K?ln, Germany initially indicated the presence of the banned anabolic steroid Trenbelone.  Nematopur was notified of his rights by FILA at which point he requested an analysis of his “B” sample.

The analysis of the “B” sample was concluded on June 26 with the laboratory confirming the presence of the prohibited substance found in the “A” sample.

In accordance with the FILA anti-doping rules, Nematpour,29,  has been provisionally suspended from any wrestling activity and faces a two-year competition ban pending a final ruling by FILA.
