Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, June 8, 2015: The Central Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) annual board meeting was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, on May 23-25. All member countries were represented: Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Pakistan Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The meeting was organised by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the organising committee of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, Ashgabat 2017.
WADA was represented by Mr Tom May, Deputy Director, NADO/RADO Relations, Mr Kazuhiro Hayashi (Director) and Ms Yuko Otaki (Coordinator) of WADA Asia/Oceania Regional Office.
At the same time, 20 participants from the member countries participated in the Doping Control Officers training workshop, which was the first step towards being accredited and certified. Trainers delivered the workshop from the United Kingdom Anti-Doping (UKAD), Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) and the National Anti-Doping Centre of Kazakhstan.
The Central Asia RADO was established in 2006 and is based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It includes Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
