Lausanne, Switzerland, July 12, 2017: The International Skating Union has announced that there will be four qualifying competitions for next year’s short track speed skating at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea.
Audi ISU World Cup competitions in 2017 serving as 2018 Olympic Winter Games qualifying competitions will be held at:
*Budapest, Hungary, September 30-October 1.
*Dordrecht, Netherlands, October 7-8.
*Shanghai, China, November 11-12.
*Seoul, Republic of Korea, November 18-19
There will be eight events in the short track at PyeongChang 2018, four in the women (500m, 1000m, 1500m and 3000m relay) and four in the men (500m, 1000m, 1500m and 5000m relay).
There will be a total of 120 athletes – 55 qualifiers in the men and women (total 110) plus five places for the hosts in men and women (total 10 for Korea).
Maximum Quota: Men’s 500m 32, Men’s 1000m 32, Men’s 1500m 36 and Men’s 5000m Relay 8 teams. Ladies’ 500m 32, Ladies’ 1000m 32, Ladies’ 1500m 36 and Ladies’ 3000m Relay 8 teams.
