OCA conducts second TDM for 18th Asian Games

Date : 18 Aug 2017

Jakarta, Indonesia, August 17, 2017: Coinciding with Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, the 2nd Technical Delegates Meeting (TDM) of the 18th Asian Games 2018 was held at Wisma Serbaguna Senayan in Jakarta on Thursday.

The meeting discussed a number of important issues related to the 18th Asian Games, which will take place from August 18 to September 2, 2018 in Jakarta and co-host city Palembang, capital of South Sumatra province. The agenda included venues, broadcasting, sports programme and competition schedule.

Although there is still plenty of work ahead, the general consensus was that everything was heading in the right direction. "On this proud day for our country - Independence Day - Indonesia continues to prepare all aspects of the Asian Games - the biggest party in Asia,” said Mr Erick Thohir, President of the Indonesian Olympic Committee and Chairman of organising committee INASGOC.

“As of today, the venue preparations are at 89%. In this meeting, INASGOC is counting on the OCA to provide assistance in the smooth running of the operations and the management of the Games. Time is short, and we must avoid any hindrance.”

The second TDM was attended by 48 Technical Delegates from the various sports and led by the OCA’s Mr Haider Farman, Director of the Sports Programme for the 18th Asian Games. Mr Farman said the success of the Asian Games depended on the support and unity of the Technical Delegates, especially in the confirmation of the sports programme, disciplines and events by the end of the week.

"The Technical Delegates Meeting has taken place according to the timeline of the Asian Games,” said Mr Farman. “We will provide all needs of the delegates. We always expect a good coordination between OCA and INASGOC and, for the next TDM, the decisions taken will be more concrete and the details will have been approved by both sides.” The third TDM is expected to be held at the beginning of 2018.
