OCA reviews Asian Games IT&T project

Jakarta, Indonesia, May 18, 2018: The Olympic Council of Asia conducted the seventh IT audit for the 18th Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from May 10 to 14. The auditors, Mr. Manuel Gonzalez and Mr. Alfonso Sanchez, with the participation of Mr. Anil Reddy, OCA IT staff, performed a complete review of the situation of the IT&T project.

For that purpose they met representatives from the IT&T Department, IT&T stakeholders, Venue Department and Broadcast & Media Departments as well as from the main Functional Areas.

The auditors put the focus on the readiness of the IT solution to face the installation and deployment of the IT&T solution in each competition and non-competition venue. The preparation of an integrated installation plan, including all the dependencies from third parties, and its coordination with the venue department took more of the discussions of this session.

Other areas under review were all the operational issues related to the preparation of the Venue Operations Plan and the training plans for all the IT staff in each venue and the end-users of the Games Information System.

The visit to some of the venues in Palembang was also part of the agenda in order to check the progression of the installation of the IT infrastructure and the readiness of the areas where IT equipment will be installed and operated.

The OCA’s 18th Asian Games will be held in Jakarta and Palembang, the capital of South Sumatra province located 1,000km from the main capital, from August 18 to September 2, with 10,000 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committees competing in 40 sports, 67 disciplines and 463 events, as well as two demonstration sports.
