Wei highlights three key areas to complete Games success

Date : 16 Dec 2010

Muscat, Oman: The last Chefs de Mission meeting of the 2nd Asian Beach Games was held at the Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa on Thursday morning, the day of the closing ceremony at Al-Musannah Sports City, starting at 7pm.

Speaking on behalf of the Olympic Council of Asia, Honorary Life Vice President Wei Jizhong said until now the Games had run smoothly with good understanding and general satisfaction. “That means success!” he concluded.

“Here we have to thank the Oman government for providing us with all the necessary conditions to help us solve all the problems. Our thanks also go to MABGOC, who have been preparing these Games for several years.”

The veteran Chinese sports leader also thanked the Olympic Council of Asia for its guidance, and particularly the OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

“I would like also to thank all the National Olympic Committees here because without their cooperation it is very difficult to run these Games well. We have also to thank all the staff of MABGOC, especially all the volunteers who have been working with us to provide all the necessary assistance.”

Mr. Wei said it was now equally important to have a good finish to the Games, emphasising three key areas: to conduct the finals of the team sports without incident; to organise the closing ceremony smoothly; and to arrange the orderly departure of the athletes and officials over the next two days.

“For two days we will continue our efforts to make these successful Games,” he said.

“Negligence comes at the last moment because there was no problem and then problems happen, so in this last Chefs de Mission meeting we have to work together.”
