Ever Onward with OCA’s Sporting Asia

Date : 01 Dec 2016

Kuwait, December 01, 2016: The latest edition of the Olympic Council of Asia’s official magazine, Sporting Asia, is now ready for download from the OCA website, www.ocasia.org. The printed version will be distributed shortly to the National Olympic Committees, Asian Federations, International Olympic Committee, sponsors and media, and will also be widely available at the OCA’s 8th Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, next February.

The 35th edition of Sporting Asia, which was launched in 2009, focuses on the OCA’s 5th Asian Beach Games, which took place at Danang, Vietnam, from September 24 to October 3. The 16 pages of ABG5 coverage include a general overview, full medals table, photo special and a sport-by-sport summary.

There is also news and photos from the 35th OCA General Assembly in Vietnam and from the 21st ANOC General Assembly at Doha, Qatar. The regular “Inside the OCA” section features reports and photos from the various committees, including the Media Committee and Women and Sports Committee, and news on the latest sponsors to join up with the OCA.

We also have a report and photos from the popular OCA rowing youth camp held in Pattaya, Thailand, in October, and a look at the new Olympic Solidarity budget for the 2017-2020 quadrennial, with over half a billion USD to be distributed to NOCs.

As for the front cover, the striking new logo for the OCA’s next Asian Games, in Indonesia in 2018, takes centre stage, along with the OCA motto “Ever Onward”, in this case to the 18th Asiad. The 36 pages for the December 2016 edition also feature regular items such as the President’s Message, News in Pictures, Games Update, Obituary, OCA Calendar and Sponsors’ Club.
