Macau, China, December 4, 2016: Olympic Council of Asia Executive Board member Charles Lo was among the VVIP guests at the 2016 Macau Open badminton championships on Sunday afternoon. Mr Lo, who is Chairman of the OCA Media Committee and President of the Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China, presented the prizes to the winners of the men’s doubles – the last of the five finals at Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion in Macau.
The Macau Open is part of the Badminton World Federation Grand Prix Gold Series and China won four of the five titles on offer. Chen Yufei, the sixth seed, beat compatriot Chen Xiaoxin in the women’s singles final and Zhao Junpeng overcame top seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the men’s singles final.
Zhang Nan and Li Yinhui won the mixed doubles, top seeds Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan won the women’s doubles and second seeds Jhe-Huei Lee and Yang Lee of Chinese Taipei claimed the men’s doubles crown. The Macau Open began in 2006 and this year’s event marked the 11th edition.
