Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 19, 2019: The Olympic Council of Malaysia organised the Sport Administrators Course for 34 participants from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18 at the Hotel Excelsior Ipoh, Perak.
The course was conducted by the Assistant Secretary General of the OCM, Ms. Moira Tan Siew See, and her team of facilitators.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Y.B. Howard Lee Chuan How, the Perak State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports and Human Development.
Y.B. Howard Lee in his opening speech mentioned that, as we celebrate success in sport, we must not forget about the basic fundamentals, which is the development at grassroots level.
“We hope to see more courses like the Sport Administrators Course being held for capacity building of sport administrators in Perak,” added Y.B. Howard Lee.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Shamala Subramaniam, OCM Vice President and Chairperson of the OCM Education and Training Committee, made a special effort to go to Ipoh to meet all the participants on Saturday, August 17.
She mentioned that officials at grassroots level played an important role in identifying and developing talented athletes to become national and international champions. She encouraged all participants to continue working hard in their respective fields.
The closing ceremony was officiated by Mr. Mazlan Mohamad, the Deputy Director of Perak State Sports Council. He thanked the OCM for conducting the course in Perak again after 2018 and urged all participants to utilise the knowledge learnt for the development of sports in Perak.
