Muscat, Oman, March 27, 2019: Female members of the Oman Olympic Committee will take part in a three-day Arab Women’s Sport International Conference which gets underway in Cairo, Egypt, today.

Under the theme ‘Challenges and Opportunities’ the conference aims at highlighting the Arab women’s sporting achievements, showcasing the successful experiences of Arab women’s sports organisations and discussing the future of women in sport from a legislative and legal viewpoint.

The Oman Olympic Committee will be represented by Sayyida Sanaa bint Hamad Al Busaidiyah, Chairperson of Oman’s Women’s Sport Committee, and committee member Maryam bint Saif Al Hosniyah.

Sayyida Al Busaidiyah will deliver a working paper at the opening session of the conference entitled ‘Arab policies towards women exercising sport’.

The conference will also deal with a number of topics including the reality of Arab women’s sport, the challenges ahead, sports culture of Arab women and working strategies for developing women’s sport and other matters.

Last week, a leading activist for women’s sport in the Gulf region and Arab world, Ms Saada Al-Ismaili of Oman, won the IOC’s 2019 Continental Trophy for Asia for her work to champion the cause of women in sport.
