Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 4, 2019: "Tolerance in Sports" will be the theme for the 11th edition of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award.
Registration for the Award opened this week and will close on August 31, 2020.
Organised under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, this is the biggest award in terms of value and diversity of categories and dedicated to inspiring creativity in sports, not only in the UAE but around the Arab world and globally.
The qualifying period for the Award is from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2020. The General Secretariat of the Award has invited individuals, teams and organisations from the UAE and the Arab world, and sports organisations from around the world, to send in their nominations.
“We are extremely proud of the valuable work achieved in the past decade, aligned with the Award’s vision and objectives aimed at promoting the sports sector by supporting creative achievement,” said Moaza AlMarri, secretary general of the General Secretariat of the Award.
With the UAE celebrating 2019 as the Year of Tolerance, the Award also stuck to the same theme.
“The Award aims to encourage local, Arab and international sports institutions to launch and implement initiatives that achieve positive results within the important theme chosen annually,” AlMarri said.
“This theme complements the achievements made in the previous editions of the Award, which focused on ‘governance in sports’, ‘empowerment of women in sports’ and ‘empowerment of youth in the sports field’,” she added.
