Hangzhou, China, June 14, 2019: The organisers of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2022 have announced ambitious plans to develop football in 2,022 schools in the build-up to the next Asiad.
Organising committee HAGOC has joined forces with the Young Footballer Growth Fund to establish the Asian Games Football Dream on the donation platform of Alipay.
The aim of the programme is to support football on campus at a total of 2,022 primary schools before the opening of Hangzhou 2022.
The Asian Games Football Dream aims to “uncover the interest and enthusiasm of children towards football, improve their health through football, fulfill the football dreams of children and actively promote sportsmanship and the spirit of the Asian Games,” according to a statement on the HAGOC website: http://www.hangzhou2022.cn.
There is also a list of requirements for schools to apply for a donation, for example primary schools with a minimum of 150 students and that can guarantee at least one football class per week on school campus, and how to apply.
Schools that apply to join the Asian Games Football Dream programme will be visited by a team of experts and, if approved, will receive RMB 8,000 worth of training kit and team uniforms as well as other perks such as summer camps and friendly competitions and an invitation to watch the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Based on the project schedule of Asian Games Football Dream, HAGOC staged the first donation event - entitled “Power up for Hangzhou 2022 - Asian Games Football Dream” - at Xingzhou Primary School of Hangzhou on December 29, 2018.
Football gear and training courses were donated to 11 schools specialising in youth football in Zhejiang Province to actively give back to society and kindle the football dreams of the children.
