Maldives NOC sends former goalkeeper Aminath to top-level sports course

Male, Maldives, March 22, 2019: Maldives football coach Ms. Aminath Shiyana left for Budapest, Hungary on March 17 to attend the International Coaching Course (ICC).

The diploma programme offered by the University of Physical Education in Hungary is organised by the University’s International Directorate in collaboration with the IOC and Olympic Solidarity.

The course is held twice a year, from March to June and from September to December, and offers sport specialisation tracks in several areas.

The three-month course is designed to systematically develop the knowledge and skills of coaches and seeks to produce coaches of excellence. The course is comprised of both theoretical and practical sessions and provides intensive training in coaching principles, general conditioning, sport physiology, psychology, sociology and therapy and training theory.

Aminath is an AFC-licensed coach assisting in the administration and coaching of various football programmes for schools and local teams since 2018.

Prior to her coaching she was a professional football player and goalkeeper of the Maldives national women’s team. She pursued the course through a scholarship awarded by the Maldives Olympic Committee in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity.
