Seoul, South Korea, May 29, 2019: A tripartite cooperation agreement for the staging of 2019 World Sambo Championships in Seoul was signed by Yong In University, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in South Korea and the Korean Sambo Federation.
President of the university Park Sun-kyong, Russian Ambassador to Korea Andrei Kulik and President of Korean Sambo Federation Moon Chong-keum signed the agreement which will provide a masterplan for staging the tournament as well as for the development of the sport in Korea.
Yong In University will support the training of the Korean team, as well as the organisation, promotion and technical support for the World Sambo Championships which will be held in Seoul from November 8-10.
Ambassador Kulik thanked the university for its support and said: “the successful staging of the World Sambo Championships will be a great achievement for both Russia and Yong In University.”
Sambo, a Russian martial art, was a medal sport at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.
