Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, June 13, 2019: Kazakhstan’s men’s team booked their berth at Tokyo 2020 Olympics after reaching the recurve quarterfinals at the 2019 World Archery Championships in Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.
This will be the first time in 20 years, since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, that Kazakhstan will take part in a team competition.
Kazakhstan’s men team comprising Denis Gankin, Sanzhar Musayev and Ilfat Abdulin defeated the United States 6-0 to earn Olympic qualification. Team qualification gives three individual places, the maximum that can be won per gender.
Also winning full quotas at Tokyo 2020 Olympics - in both men’s and women’s team events - were China, Chinese-Taipei, South Korea and Britain.
The other Asian country to earn a men’s team event Olympic berth was India.
