Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, June 3, 2019: Ticket sales for the 2019 Senior Wrestling World Championships to be held at the Daulet Arena got underway on Sunday.
The 2019 World Championships in the Kazakhstan capital city from September 14-22 will serve as the first qualification event for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The top six finishers in each Olympic weight category will secure an Olympic berth for their country, with the remaining qualification spots earned at continental competitions and a ‘last chance qualifier’ during the 2020 competition calendar.
Competition will be held across 10 weight categories each in men’s freestyle, men’s Greco-Roman and women’s freestyle.
Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation President Sauat Mynbayev has stated “the Wrestling World Championships will help popularise the sport in Kazakhstan”.
The Kazakh capital has hosted the Grappling World Championships in 2018, the 2016 Asian Olympic qualifier, and the 2014 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships.
