Manila, Philippines, July 8, 2019: The Philippine Sports Commission has unveiled the official parade uniforms to be used for “Team Pilipinas” in the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. The uniforms were designed by well-known fashion designer to the stars, Francis Libiran.
The uniforms are composed of barongs embroidered with the rays of the sun, similar to the Philippine flag. The collars also have the blue and red colours of the national flag.
"The sun rays are very symbolic because it's positive, so it's a very good indication for our athletes to think that way," said Libiran.
The buttons for both the men's and women's barong are made of Swarovski crystals to add an additional glow to the athletes during the 2019 SEA Games parade.
The Philippines will host the 30th edition of the SEA Games from November 30 to December 11, 2019.
The main hub will be in Clark (Northern Philippines) with the creation of the New Clark City Sports Village. The secondary hub will be in Subic Bay Freeport Zone with the tertiary hub in Metro Manila/ nearby areas.
There will be 56 sports, with an estimated 8,750 athletes and team officials; 2,050 technical officials, 1,500 press and media and 12,000 volunteers.
