Date : 14 May 2019

Manama, Bahrain, May 14, 2019: The Bahrain Olympic Committee organised a special show introducing the dynamic new sport of teqball to the public.

The initiative, held as part of the Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Heritage Festival, featured performances on two new teqball tables that were presented in collaboration with Dividend Gate Capital.

During his visit to Isa Sports City, BOC Secretary General Mohammed Al Nusuf – joined by Riffa Club Vice Chairman Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa – played a teqball match during which they displayed a high level of skill and stamina, much to the delight of the spectators.

Al Nusuf said that introducing this type of sport to the country was in line with the determination of the BOC, headed by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to include different new sports that will develop the skills of the Bahraini youth.

Al Nusuf added that the teqball show was also organised to ensure the success of the Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Heritage Festival, held under the patronage of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman.

Teqball, a combination of table tennis and football, was founded in Hungary. It joined the list of recognised sports by the Olympic Council of Asia in 2018 and is set to make its debut at an OCA event at the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China in 2020.
